GPS Public Intake Policy
Our mission is “to provide a second chance to those cats who need us most,”. As such, we focus on rescuing cats who have been long-term residents in municipal animal shelters and are therefore at a tremendous risk of being euthanized. A cat languishing alone in a cold metal shelter cage at risk of being euthanized on any given day, is an inarguably urgent situation. Unfortunately due to the preponderance of owner surrenders to shelters, there is never a shortage of cats in this situation. The cats waiting for us to rescue them from the shelters is a never-ending wait-list that we are ever-attempting to attend to. If and when we take a cat from a member of the public, that directly correlates to one less shelter cat being saved. This breaks our hearts and undermines our chosen mission. We have extremely limited space at our cat adoption centers as well as limited resources we must dedicate to those cats we've created this organization to serve.
If you looking for placement of a cat you found and/or can't keep, please consider instead contacting one of the no-kill shelters on our Information page or contact your local municipal town shelter for local resources and assistance. Because we have limited space, and because at every minute of every single day there are distressed cats sitting in shelter cages waiting for us to save them, we are unable to take cats from individuals without great sacrifice. We are a very small organization, with a maximum capacity of only 60 cats. Please understand and respect our need to use our limited space and resources toward the fulfillment of our Mission.
