VOLUNTEERING
Welcome! We are so excited to welcome you to our growing team. What started as just two people with a vision in 2012 has grown to more than 100 dedicated people volunteering at our 2adoption locations and ZERO paid staff. Since we are all volunteers our organization is truly a labor of love and your help is so valuable! In order to properly prepare you to join our group, we have detailed some information here about our organization and what it's like to volunteer here.
Golden Paw Society Fun Facts: We are the ONLY organization in existence that commits 100% of our resources to rescuing cats from shelter cages. This has been the case since our inception and we are firm on staying the course to achieve our lifesaving goals. We began in 2012 and have rescued over 2400 cats since then! How did our mission come about? Cats in pounds are often former house pets who have found themselves abandoned for a myriad of reasons. These particular cats are often adults or seniors and have a very low chance of being adopted while they are depressed in a cage next to cute kittens. Having curated an adoption center with a "home away from home" environment, it allows these stressed shelter cats to decompress and let their personalities reemerge as they settle in. |
Lifesaving Goals: To continuously increase our volunteer team in order to increase the number of cats we are able to rescue and care for at once. To gradually increase our number of adoptions per month through expanding adoption centers hours and accessibility. To achieve a point where none of our 7 partner shelters ever euthanize an animal unless they are suffering from incurable illness, and to decrease the overall length of stay in a shelter cage for any cat. Many of the cats we've rescued have lived in a shelter cage for more than 365 days.
